Runite ore (Blast Furnace)
Runite Ore (Blast Furnace)
The Runite ore is a highly sought-after resource in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), primarily used for crafting Runite bars, which are essential for creating high-level weapons and armor. This ore can be obtained through various mining veins and is most effectively melted at the Blast Furnace.
Location
Runite ore can be mined from several locations throughout Gielinor, but when using the Blast Furnace, players can take advantage of the following locations to mine it:
- Mining Guild: Located in the south-western part of Burthorpe, accessible with level 60 Mining.
- Heroes’ Guild: Available to players who have completed the Heroes’ Quest, it’s a popular spot due to its proximity to the bank.
- Wilderness Mining Sites: Dangerous but fruitful, as these locations often have several ore veins close to each other.
Mining Runite Ore
To mine Runite ore, players must have a minimum of level 85 Mining. Mining this ore grants 50 Mining experience and it has a relatively low respawn rate compared to lower-tier ores. When players attempt to mine Runite ore, they may be interrupted by other players or dangerous creatures in PvP areas.
Blast Furnace Process
The Blast Furnace, located in Keldagrim, is the most efficient method for smelting ores, especially for members. To use the Blast Furnace for Runite ore, players must:
- Acquire Coal: Each Runite ore requires 8 Coal to smelt in the furnace.
- Use a Superheat Item: Using a hammer and elements from the furnace will also allow players to smelt Runite bars.
- Pay A Fee: A coal bag or the use of the Blast Furnace’s service is required to smelt bars at a lower cost.
Experience and Output
Smelting a Runite ore into a Runite bar awards players with 125 Smithing experience. Each run yields one bar, which can then be used to create high-level equipment, such as:
- Runite Sword
- Runite Armor (Body, Legs, Full Helm)
- Runite Weapons (e.g., Runite Battleaxe, Runite Spear)
Other Uses
Besides crafting weapons and armor, Runite bars can also be utilized in various quests and are essential for forging items at higher levels, making them a critical resource for any serious player in OSRS.
Additional Information
Bear in mind that Runite ore can be dropped by various high-level monsters, as well as found in certain minigames, enhancing its accessibility in addition to the traditional mining methods. In competitive scenarios, securing a hefty stock of Runite ore can significantly benefit players in their gameplay progression.
