Rocks (bronze pickaxe)
In Old School RuneScape (OSRS), players can utilize various tools to gather resources essential for their adventuring endeavors. One of the fundamental resources available in the game is ore, which players can mine from rocks scattered throughout the world. Among these tools, the bronze pickaxe stands out as the first level pickaxe players can obtain and use.
The bronze pickaxe is crafted from bronze, a metal alloy formed by combining copper and tin. This pickaxe requires a Minig Skill level of 1 to wield, making it accessible to all new players embarking on their mining journey. To obtain a bronze pickaxe, players can either purchase it from various shops or craft it at the anvils if they possess sufficient smithing skills.
When using a bronze pickaxe, players can mine from various types of rocks—namely Normal rocks, Iron rocks, and Coal rocks. The primary rocks you will encounter are:
- Normal Rocks: These rocks yield Copper ore and Tin ore, which are essential for players looking to level up their Smithing skill. Normal rocks are commonly found in locations such as the Lumbridge Swamp and Varrock’s South-east mine.
- Iron Rocks: Located in places like the Mining Guild and the Al Kharid mine, these rocks yield Iron ore, a crucial resource for any serious smithing endeavor. Players will find that each iron rock requires a Mining level of 15 to mine.
- Coal Rocks: Found in the Dwarven Mine and other areas, coal rocks allow players to collect Coal ore, a key ingredient for smelting certain metals and for crafting bars for higher-level smithing.
Mining with a bronze pickaxe is relatively straightforward. Players simply need to approach a rock, click on it, and their character will begin mining. The bronze pickaxe has a mining speed that allows players to gather ore efficiently at lower levels, though higher-level pickaxes, such as the iron and steel versions, will yield results more quickly as players progress.
The mining animation reflects the character’s strength and technique, entailing a swinging motion of the pickaxe against the rock, inevitably resulting in a pile of ore on the ground. As players continue to mine, they can accumulate ores in their inventory, which can later be smelted into bars or used for quests and training. The experience gained from mining varies depending on the type of ore mined; players earn more experience from higher-quality ores.
With a bronze pickaxe, players can efficiently gather resources throughout Gielinor and prepare for further adventures in Old School RuneScape, be it through smithing, training skills, or completing quests that require materials. As they advance in level, players will naturally seek out better pickaxes to maximize their efficiency, but the bronze pickaxe remains a trusty companion for novice adventurers.
