The Red Salamander is a type of non-player character (NPC) in Old School RuneScape that players can encounter while training their Hunter skill. This creature is primarily found in swampy areas and specific regions where players can set traps to capture them.
Location
Players can find Red Salamanders in:
- Western areas of the Kharidian Swamp
- The swamps near Al Kharid
- The area around Deadman Forests
Requirements
To catch Red Salamanders, players need:
- A Hunter level of 34 to set the traps.
- One Red Salamander trapping bait, which can be obtained from the Fairy Godfather.
Catching Process
Red Salamanders can be caught using the following steps:
- Set up a salamander trap in an area where Red Salamanders are present.
- Wait for a Red Salamander to enter the trap.
- Once caught, the salamander can be collected from the trap.
Experience
Catching a Red Salamander provides:
- Hunter experience: 100 XP per salamander caught.
Additional Information
Red Salamanders can also be used to create Red Salamander (hunter) items, which are useful for training Hunter and can be sold for a profit on the Grand Exchange.
Players may want to use a Varrock teleport or other means of fast travel to get to the catching locations quickly.
