Jungle Potion is a members-only quest that involves helping Trufitus Shakaya, a resident of Tai Bwo Wannai Village, gather five special herbs to create a potion for communing with his gods. It’s a great quest for beginners, offering 775 Herblore XP and access to useful Karamja content.
Quest Requirements
- Completed Quest: Druidic Ritual
- Skill: 3 Herblore (boostable, not required to start)
- Combat: Ability to survive level 53 Jogres and level 46 Harpie Bug Swarms
Recommended Items
To make your journey smoother, consider bringing the following:
- Antipoison potion (to counter potential poison from Jogres)
- Some food (for low-level players)
- Teleport method (e.g., Amulet of Glory to Karamja or Fairy Ring CKR)
- Lightweight armor to reduce weight and improve run energy
Starting the Jungle Potion Quest
The quest begins in Tai Bwo Wannai Village, located south of Brimhaven on Karamja. If you’re unsure how to get there, use the Fairy Ring code CKR and run north, or teleport to Karamja with an Amulet of Glory and head southwest.
Finding Trufitus
Locate Trufitus in his house, situated northeast of the main Tai Bwo Wannai Village area, just west of the mahogany and teak trees. Speak to him and ask where the villagers are. He’ll explain they’ve fled to the jungle out of fear. Offer to help, and he’ll task you with collecting five herbs for his potion. Note: You must return to Trufitus after collecting each herb, as you cannot gather them all at once.
Collecting the Five Herbs
The core of the Jungle Potion quest is gathering five specific herbs: Snake Weed, Ardrigal, Sito Foil, Volencia Moss, and Rogue’s Purse. Each herb is found in a unique location around Tai Bwo Wannai, and you’ll need to clean them before handing them over to Trufitus. Below, we detail each herb’s location and tips for collecting them efficiently.
Herb 1: Snake Weed
Location: Southwest of Tai Bwo Wannai, near the coast by marshy jungle vines.
Steps:
- Head southwest from Trufitus’ house, crossing a muddy land bridge near the ocean.
- Search the green and yellow “marshy jungle vines” to find a grimy Snake Weed. This may take 1–5 minutes, with higher Herblore levels speeding up the process.
- Clean the herb to obtain a clean Snake Weed.
- Return to Trufitus and give him the clean herb.
Tip: If you plan to do Legends’ Quest or Zogre Flesh Eaters later, collect three Snake Weeds to save time.
Herb 2: Ardrigal
Location: Northeast of Tai Bwo Wannai, on a peninsula with palm trees.
Steps:
- Travel northeast from Trufitus’ house, past Harpie Bug Swarms (level 46).
- Locate the palm trees on the peninsula, just south of an agility shortcut.
- Search a palm tree to obtain a grimy Ardrigal.
- Clean the herb and deliver it to Trufitus.
Tip: Collect two Ardrigals if you’re planning to do Legends’ Quest. Watch out for Harpie Bug Swarms if you’re a low-level player—bring food or antipoison if needed.
Herb 3: Sito Foil
Location: South of Tai Bwo Wannai, near scorched earth by fires.
Steps:
- Go south from the village until you see two fires and a patch of scorched earth.
- Search the scorched earth (next to the fires) to find a grimy Sito Foil.
- Clean the herb and return it to Trufitus.
Tip: The scorched earth is easy to spot—just look for the fires as a landmark.
Herb 4: Volencia Moss
Location: Southeast of Tai Bwo Wannai, at the Karamja Jungle mine.
Steps:
- Head southeast from Trufitus until you reach the mine, marked by a pickaxe icon on the minimap.
- Search the green-colored rocks to obtain a grimy Volencia Moss.
- Clean the herb and give it to Trufitus.
Tip: Grab an extra Volencia Moss if you plan to do Fairytale I – Growing Pains, as it may be required.
Herb 5: Rogue’s Purse
Location: Inside a cave north of Tai Bwo Wannai.
Steps:
- Go north from Trufitus, past the Harpie Bug Swarms, and head west until you find a cave entrance.
- Enter the cave and navigate to the southeast corner.
- Search the fungus-covered walls to find a grimy Rogue’s Purse. Note: This herb must be collected here—Rogue’s Purse from other sources won’t work.
- Clean the herb and return to Trufitus.
Tip: The cave contains level 53 Jogres, so low-level players should bring food and antipoison. The cave is near the Brimhaven Agility Arena, visible to the west.

Tips for Success
To ensure a smooth Jungle Potion quest experience, keep these tips in mind:
Efficiency Tips
- Use Teleports: The Fairy Ring CKR or Amulet of Glory can save time traveling to and from Karamja.
- Collect Extras: As mentioned, grab additional herbs (e.g., three Snake Weeds, two Ardrigals) for future quests to avoid backtracking.
- Bank Before Starting: Store unnecessary items to reduce weight and preserve run energy.
Combat Safety
- Jogres and Harpie Bug Swarms: These enemies can hit moderately hard for low-level players. If your combat level is below 50, bring food and an antipoison potion.
- Safe Spots: In the Rogue’s Purse cave, you can use the cave’s layout to avoid Jogres by sticking to the walls.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Don’t Skip Cleaning: Trufitus only accepts clean herbs, so make sure to clean each one before returning.
- Don’t Gather Early: You can’t collect herbs until Trufitus assigns them, so follow his instructions step-by-step.
- Rogue’s Purse Source: Only Rogue’s Purse from the cave counts—don’t try using one from your bank or other sources.
By following this guide, you’ll breeze through the Jungle Potion quest in no time, earning valuable rewards and setting yourself up for more Karamja adventures. Whether you’re a new player or an Ironman looking to optimize your questing, this straightforward quest is a great addition to your OSRS journey. Happy herb hunting!
