Mahogany tree (Farming)
Mahogany Tree
Mahogany trees are a type of tree found in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) that can be grown through the Farming skill. Mahogany trees provide a good source of Woodcutting experience as well as Firemaking experience when logs are burned. These trees produce mahogany logs, which can be used to create various furniture items, chests, and other wooden objects in the Construction skill.
Growing Mahogany Trees:
To plant a mahogany tree, players must first obtain a mahogany tree seed, which can be acquired from the following sources:
- Disarming the Mahogany Tree in the Karamja area.
- Received as a drop from certain monsters, such as the jungle strykewyrm.
- Purchasing from other players via the Grand Exchange.
- Obtained from the Farming Guild during Farming contracts.
Once you have a seed, find a suitable planting location. Mahogany trees can be grown in specific areas including:
- Near the Woodcutting Guild, on the western side of Varrock.
- Inside the Karamja Volcano.
- In tropical areas south of the Karamja trees.
- Planting patches in the Farming Guild or by using a planted fruit tree patch.
To plant the seed, players need to use a spade to prepare the farming patch, and then click on the seed to sow it. Players must ensure that they possess level 50 Farming to plant the tree.
Growth Stages:
A mahogany tree goes through several growth stages before reaching maturity:
- Stage 1: Seedling.
- Stage 2: Young Tree.
- Stage 3: Mature Tree.
- Stage 4: Fully Grown Tree.
Typically, it takes around 80 minutes (in real-time) for the mahogany tree to fully mature. Players can check the tree’s status by inspecting it. Once it is grown, players can chop it down to receive mahogany logs.
Mahogany trees can be an attractive and lucrative source of experience points for players focused on improving their Woodcutting and Farming skills. The logs they yield are also highly sought after in the marketplace for their value in construction and other skills.
Chopping Mahogany Trees:
When chopping down a fully grown mahogany tree, players can expect to receive a solid amount of experience points in Woodcutting (without using any bonus experience). Chopping down a mahogany tree awards 125 experience points along with two logs per successful chop. Players can use a steel axe or higher to chop these trees most effectively, ideally, incorporating the use of Woodcutting-enhancing items such as the Lumberjack outfit or using a dragon axe to maximize efficiency.
After cutting a mahogany tree, players can replant another seed in the same location if they wish to ensure constant Woodcutting training and Farming gains.
Overall, mahogany trees are a valuable resource in Old School RuneScape. With careful management and cultivation, players can utilize them to achieve significant progress in both Farming and Woodcutting skills, making them an essential part of any player’s farming strategy.
