So you know how it goes. You’re at Chambers with your buddies, someone gets a Dex scroll, and suddenly everyone’s looking at each other like “uh… who’s doing the math?” That was me last Tuesday. 2.1M drop, 6 people, and I’m sitting there with my phone calculator looking like an idiot.
Been playing OSRS since 2007 and I STILL can’t do splits in my head when there’s money involved. My brain just shuts off. That’s why I actually use this calculator now instead of pretending I’m good at math.
Here’s What This Thing Does
Pretty straightforward really. You’ve got your drop value, count how many people were there, pick if someone’s taking a cut, and boom. Done. No more standing around Chambers bank while someone goes “wait let me recalculate that.”
The tax thing is actually smart. Like when Dave hosts our TOB runs and wants his 10% for organizing everything. Or when we take learners and charge them 5% because honestly, they’re getting carried and we all know it.
Tax Options:
- No tax for friend groups
- 5% for small fees
- 10% for hosting
- Custom for whatever weird arrangement your clan comes up with
Real Talk About Group PvM
Look, I love this game but the community can be… intense about money. Had a clan split up over a Bandos Chestplate drop because someone thought the split was unfair. 12M. Twelve million GP ended friendships that lasted years.
That’s actually ridiculous when you think about it. But it happens ALL the time. People get weird about pixels that represent money that isn’t even real money.
This calculator stops those arguments before they start. Everyone sees the same numbers. Nobody can claim they got screwed.
When I Actually Use This
Nightmare runs are the worst for splits. Those drops are massive but weird amounts. Got an Inquisitor’s Hauberk last month – 180M. Try splitting that 7 ways with a host fee. Without this tool I’d probably still be doing long division.
Learning raids get complicated too. New guy dies 12 times but still gets a share? How much? This handles all that drama.
GWD trips seem simple until you get multiple drops. Bandos Tassets AND a Hilt in one trip? Now you’re splitting multiple amounts and people start making mistakes.
Even Zulrah splits when you’re duo can get messy. Magic Fang plus some other drops, suddenly you’re calculating percentages on your phone while the next spawn is happening.
The Math Nobody Wants To Do
Quick question – what’s 847,392,105 GP split 8 ways with a 10% host fee?
Yeah, me neither. That’s from a Twisted Bow drop we got. I plugged it into this calculator while everyone was freaking out in Discord. Took 5 seconds instead of 5 minutes of “wait, carry the 1…”
The custom tax option is clutch too. Sometimes our splits aren’t standard. Maybe someone provided all the supplies. Maybe someone taught the whole run. You can adjust for that instead of doing weird mental gymnastics later.
Stories From The Trenches
Worst split disaster I ever saw: Corp trip, Elysian drops, 6 people, no clear agreement on host fees. Two hours of arguing. People pulling up DPS meters, talking about who tanked more hits, who used more supplies. Absolute chaos.
One guy rage quit and never came back to our Discord. Over pixels. In a medieval clicking simulator.
That taught me something important. Have the split figured out BEFORE the drop happens. This calculator makes that easy. You all see the same result, nobody can complain later.
Best part? It works on mobile. Half our raid team uses their phones anyway. No downloading anything, no spreadsheets, just open the page and calculate.
Why Groups Fall Apart
Money ruins OSRS friendships faster than anything else. Seen it dozens of times. Good players, cool people, but they get into arguments over loot splits and suddenly the whole dynamic changes.
It’s not even about being greedy most of the time. People just have different ideas about what’s fair. Someone thinks they carried harder. Someone else thinks they deserve more because they organized it. Everyone’s doing math differently.
Having a neutral calculator removes all that drama. The numbers don’t lie and they don’t have favorites.
Technical Stuff (It Just Works)
Nothing fancy here, which is perfect. Type in your numbers, pick your options, get your answer. No accounts to create, no premium features, no BS.
Loads fast because nobody wants to wait around after a big drop. Clean interface because nobody wants to figure out complicated menus when there’s money on the line.
Simple inputs:
- Drop value (use GE price or whatever you agreed on)
- Player count (everyone getting a share)
- Tax percentage (if applicable)
- Hit calculate
That’s it. Your phone, your computer, whatever. Just works.
Different Situations Need Different Splits
Friend runs: Usually no tax, just even splits. Easy.
Hosted runs: Someone’s organizing, maybe providing supplies, deserves a cut. 10% is pretty standard.
Teaching runs: You’re basically carrying someone through content. 5% covers your extra effort.
Clan events: Sometimes you need custom percentages based on contribution, attendance, whatever your group decides.
The flexibility matters because OSRS groups are all different. Some are super casual, some are sweaty, some are somewhere in between.
Bottom Line
This calculator exists because doing loot splits manually sucks and causes unnecessary drama. I use it, my clan uses it, probably your clan should use it too.
It’s not revolutionary technology. It’s just basic math done correctly so you don’t have to think about it. Focus on not dying to Verzik instead of worrying about who owes what to whom.
Been using this for months now and zero loot arguments since. That’s worth way more than any drop we’ve gotten.
