Barley (plant)
Barley is a type of crop that can be grown in Old School RuneScape (OSRS). This yellowish plant typically flourishes in the warm sun of Gielinor. Barley can be grown by players with at least level 20 Farming. It is often associated with rustic landscapes and farmland environments. This delicate crop can be found in the following Farming locations:
- Falador Farm: Located south of Falador, this area contains multiple farming patches where barley can be cultivated.
- East of Varrock: Players can find a patch of soil suitable for planting barley near the eastern side of the Varrock settlement.
To successfully grow barley, players must first procure barley seeds, which can be obtained from seed drops, monster loots, or purchased from other players. Once you have the seeds, use them on the empty patch of soil in one of the aforementioned locations. After planting, players must water and tend to their crops until they mature.
The growth cycle of barley typically takes about 6-8 hours in real-time, at which point players can return to harvest their crop. When fully grown, barley plants appear as tall, waving stalks with an attractive golden hue, creating a scenic backdrop in the fields of Gielinor.
Upon harvesting, players will receive barley grain, which can be used for various purposes such as making beer or cooking recipes. The grain serves as a staple ingredient for brewing in the game, and it is also an effective trade good, often fetching a decent price in the Grand Exchange.
Barley not only enhances the aesthetics of the farming landscapes in OSRS but also contributes significantly to the crafting of beverages and provides an essential ingredient for players interested in the Brewing skill. The serene sight of waving barley fields against the backdrop of the landscape evokes a sense of tranquility and harmony with nature, making it a beloved element for farmers and adventurers alike in Gielinor.
