Exploring Forestry Part 2 in Old School RuneScape

Hey, RuneScape lumberjacks! If you’re swinging your axe in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) and loving the Forestry update, Forestry Part 2 takes Woodcutting to a whole new level. Released on October 25, 2023, this update added new events, rewards, and mechanics that make chopping trees even more fun and social. As someone who’s spent countless hours in Gielinor’s forests, I’m stoked to share my experiences and tips on mastering Forestry Part 2. Whether you’re a skiller chasing XP or a social player looking for cool loot, this guide has you covered. Let’s grab our Forestry Kits and dive in
Forestry Part 2 is the second half of the Forestry update, building on the social Woodcutting overhaul introduced in June 2023. It adds new events, items, and tweaks to make Woodcutting more interactive and rewarding. I was already hooked on Part 1’s group bonuses, but Part 2 brought in some seriously fun additions like the Two-Handed Axe and new events that kept me chopping for hours.
Why Forestry Part 2 Rocks
-
New Events: Six new Forestry events add variety and rewards.
-
Two-Handed Axe: A game-changer for XP-focused players like me.
-
Campfires and Teas: New mechanics for buffs and less clicking.
-
Better Rewards: More ways to spend your Anima-Infused Bark.
Ever tried a Forestry event with a big group? It’s like a party in the woods!
Getting Started with Forestry Part 2
To jump into Forestry Part 2, you need:
-
Forestry Kit: Grab one for free from the Friendly Forester in Draynor, Seers’ Village, or Prifddinas.
-
Woodcutting Level: 15+ to chop oak trees (higher for better trees).
-
World 444: The dedicated Forestry world where events spawn more often. I always hop to 444 for max action.
If you’re new to Forestry, check out Part 1 basics at the Friendly Forester. I learned the ropes by chatting with him in Draynor—super helpful!
New Events in Forestry Part 2
Forestry Part 2 introduced six new events that spawn randomly while chopping trees, each with unique mechanics and rewards. I’ve spent hours tackling these with friends, and they’re a blast. Here’s the rundown.
Enchantment Ritual
-
What It Is: Help a Dryad complete a ritual by standing on specific colored circles with unique shapes. Someone in your group needs a Petal Circlet in their Forestry Kit.
-
Rewards: Anima-Infused Bark, Woodcutting XP, and a chance for a Dryad’s Blessing (boosts Woodcutting).
-
My Experience: I got caught out the first time because I stood on the wrong circle—oops! Now I watch for the odd-one-out circle and nail it every time.
Poachers
-
What It Is: Deactivate traps to save foxes, requiring a Trap Disarming Kit in someone’s Forestry Kit. Click traps to disable them before the foxes get hurt.
-
Rewards: Fox Whistle (turns your Beaver pet into a fox), Anima-Infused Bark, and XP.
-
My Experience: This one’s hectic but fun. I once saved a fox just in time and got a Fox Whistle—my Beaver looks so cool as a fox now!
Leprechaun
-
What It Is: A Leprechaun spawns a rainbow, and running through it gives buffs. Needs a Leprechaun Charm in a Forestry Kit.
-
Rewards: Extra Anima-Infused Bark, XP, and a Rainbow Buff that lasts longer with each run.
-
My Experience: I love this one for the chill vibes. Running through rainbows feels like a mini-game, and the extra bark adds up fast.
Pheasant Control
-
What It Is: Catch pheasants by laying traps or shooting them with a bow. Requires a Pheasant Trap or Pheasant Feather in the Forestry Kit.
-
Rewards: Pheasant Feathers (for hats or selling), Anima-Infused Bark, and XP.
-
My Experience: I tried shooting pheasants with a bow and felt like a pro archer. The feathers are great for trading at the Forestry Shop.
Friendly Ents
-
What It Is: Trim five Entlings for a “haircut.” The only F2P event, so no special items needed.
-
Rewards: Anima-Infused Bark, Woodcutting XP, and a chance for God Egg Nests.
-
My Experience: This one’s super easy and great for F2P players. I’ve gotten a few God Egg Nests, which are rare and exciting!
Struggling Sapling (Updated)
-
What It Is: Feed a sapling with resources like wild mushrooms or rotting leaves. Now gives Farming XP based on your level and mulch potency.
-
Rewards: Farming and Woodcutting XP, Anima-Infused Bark.
-
My Experience: I used to skip this event, but the Farming XP boost in Part 2 made it worth it. I stock up on mulch for bigger rewards.
What’s your favorite Forestry event? I’m torn between Poachers and Leprechaun—both are so fun!
New Rewards and Items
Forestry Part 2 brought a ton of new items to the Forestry Shop, and I’ve been grinding Anima-Infused Bark to grab them all. Here’s what you can get and how I’ve used them.
Two-Handed Axe
-
How to Get It: Buy a Felling Axe Handle (6,000 Anima-Infused Bark) and combine it with any axe (Bronze to Crystal).
-
Mechanics: Chops at the same speed but gives 10% extra XP with Forester’s Rations. You get fewer logs, but the XP boost is worth it.
-
My Take: I crafted a Two-Handed Dragon Axe and it’s a Beast for training. I hit 90k XP per hour on teaks—way better than regular chopping!
Forester’s Rations
-
What They Do: Restore 20% run energy per swing when using a Two-Handed Axe. Craft with meat and leaves.
-
My Tip: I keep a stack in my Forestry Kit for AFK-ish chopping. They’re a lifesaver for long sessions.
Campfires and Teas
-
Campfires: Build them with logs for Firemaking XP and a Woodcutting buff. Less click-intensive than regular Firemaking.
-
Teas: Brew with leaves for buffs like faster chopping or more XP. I brew Maple Tea for the XP boost during events.
-
My Experience: Campfires are so chill compared to spamming fire lines. I set one up in Draynor and got a nice XP buff while chatting with friends.

Best Training Locations for Forestry Part 2
To maximize events and XP, you need to chop in the right spots. Here’s where I go and why.
Draynor Village
-
Trees: Oak and willow trees, perfect for low to mid-levels.
-
Why It’s Great: Busy on World 444, so events spawn often. Close to a bank for easy log storage.
-
My Story: I started here as a F2P player and got my first Friendly Ents event. The God Egg Nest drop had me jumping!
Seers’ Village
-
Trees: Maple and yew trees for higher levels.
-
Why It’s Great: Great for 60+ Woodcutting, with a bank nearby. The flax field nearby has six trees, doubling event spawns compared to the three at the church.
-
My Story: I grind maples here for campfires and teas. The XP buffs stack nicely with the Two-Handed Axe.
Prifddinas
-
Trees: Magic trees for 75+ Woodcutting.
-
Why It’s Great: High XP rates, but you need Song of the Elves. Fewer players than Draynor, so events are less frequent.
-
My Story: I chopped magics here for a big Anima-Infused Bark haul to buy my Felling Axe Handle. Worth the grind!
Which spot do you hit for Forestry? I love Seers’ for the chill vibe.
Tips for Mastering Forestry Part 2
To get the most out of Forestry Part 2, you need a solid strategy. Here’s what I’ve learned from my time in the woods.
Optimize Your Setup
-
Gear: Wear the Lumberjack or Forestry Outfit for a 2.5% XP boost. I store mine in a Clothes Pouch to wear other outfits.
-
Forestry Kit: Keep event items like Petal Circlet and Leprechaun Charm inside. I always have a Trap Disarming Kit for Poachers.
-
Runelite Plugins: Use the “Event Scouting” plugin on World 444 to track events. It’s a lifesaver for multispotting.
Join the Community
-
World 444: Hop here for the most players and event spawns. I’ve met awesome people in the Forestry Chat-channel.
-
Forestry CC: Join the in-game Friends Chat for event callouts. I’ve jumped into so many Poachers events thanks to this.
Maximize Rewards
-
Stock Up on Rations: Craft Forester’s Rations with cheap meat and leaves. I buy raw fish in bulk for easy crafting.
-
Focus on Events: Prioritize events like Enchantment Ritual for rare drops. I got a Dryad’s Blessing that boosted my XP for an hour!
-
Trade Logs: Use extra logs to buy shop items. I save yew and magic logs for big purchases like the Log Basket.
Avoid These Mistakes
-
Forgetting Your Kit: You need a Forestry Kit equipped for full event rewards. I missed out on bark once because I left mine in the bank.
-
Ignoring Event Requirements: Some events need specific items. I skipped a Poachers event early on because no one had a Trap Disarming Kit.
-
Chopping Alone: Events spawn more with 10+ players. I used to chop solo and got way fewer events—group up!
My Forestry Part 2 Adventure
When Forestry Part 2 dropped, I was Pumped to try the new events. I hopped to World 444, grabbed my Two-Handed Axe, and started chopping maples in Seers’ Village. The first Leprechaun event I hit was a riot—running through rainbows with a dozen other players felt like a festival! I also got a Fox Whistle from a Poachers event, and now my Beaver pet struts around as a fox. My proudest moment was saving enough bark for the Forestry Basket—it’s a Game-changer for storing logs.
