One Small Favour OSRS Quick Guide

If you’re diving into Old School RuneScape and eyeing the One Small Favour quest, you’re in for a wild ride. As an OSRS veteran who’s tackled this quest more times than I care to admit, I’m here to spill the beans on how to breeze through it. This quest is infamous for its chain of “small” favors that spiral into a marathon of errands, but don’t worry I’ve got your back with a quick guide to make it painless. Ever wondered why this quest feels like a never-ending chore? Let’s break it down and get you that sweet reward!
First off, let’s talk about why you’d even bother with this quest. Back when I first did it, I was chasing those juicy quest points, and One Small Favour delivers. It’s a long quest, but the rewards are worth it, especially if you’re aiming for the Quest Cape.
Rewards That Make It Worthwhile
- 2 Quest Points: Every point counts toward that cape!
- 10,000 XP Lamps: Two lamps you can slap on any skill over level 30. I dumped mine into Prayer big help for bossing.
- Access to Shilo Village: Unlocks more content like gem mining.
- Steel Key Ring: Holds a bunch of keys, saving inventory space. Trust me, it’s a lifesaver.
Ever chased a quest just for the XP? For me, those lamps were a game-changer early on.
Is It Really That Annoying?
Oh, absolutely. The first time I ran this quest, I was pulling my hair out by the third favor. It’s like everyone in Gielinor decided I’m their personal errand boy. But with this guide, you’ll dodge the frustration and zip through it.
Quest Requirements and Prep
Before you start running favors for half of RuneScape, let’s get your prep sorted. I learned the hard way that skipping prep makes this quest a nightmare.
Skill and Quest Requirements
You’ll need:
- 36 Agility: For a shortcut in Brimhaven.
- 25 Crafting: To mess with some clay.
- 18 Herblore: For a potion tweak.
- 30 Smithing: To fix a furnace.
- Quests: Rune Mysteries, Shilo Village, and Druidic Ritual. I had to grind out Shilo Village first, which was its own headache.
No combat level requirement, which is nice. Got those skills ready? If not, a quick grind session will fix you up.
Recommended Items
Here’s what I always pack:
- Teleport Runes: For Varrock, Falador, and Ardougne. Saves tons of time.
- Energy Potions: You’ll be running everywhere.
- Antipoison: For a pesky jungle section.
- Coins: About 2,000 for travel and bribes.
- Soft Clay, Chisel, Hammer, Bronze Bar, Iron Bar, Steel Bar: For crafting tasks.
I once forgot my antipoison and got poisoned in Brimhaven. Not fun. Don’t be me!
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Alright, let’s dive into the quest itself. This is where things get crazy, but I’ll keep it simple. Start in Shilo Village by talking to Yanni Salika in the antique shop. He asks for a “small favor,” and then you’re off on a wild goose chase across Gielinor.
Part 1: Shilo Village to Karamja
Yanni wants you to get some mahogany logs from a forester. Easy, right? Nope. Head to the jungle south of Shilo Village (watch out for snakes bring that antipoison!). Find the forester near Tai Bwo Wannai. He’ll trade logs for a favor: sharpen his blunt axe.
Take the axe to Captain Shanks on the ship west of the village. He needs you to talk to Brian in Port Sarim. Grab a boat to Port Sarim (30 coins). Ever sailed to Port Sarim just to hit another errand? Yeah, it’s that kind of quest.
Part 2: Port Sarim to Falador
In Port Sarim, find Brian at the axe shop. He’ll sharpen the axe if you get him a favor from the Falador weatherman. Teleport to Falador and head to the park to find Wyson the gardener. Wyson needs a weather report from the Seers’ Village weatherman. Off to Camelot you go!
I remember sprinting to Seers’ Village, thinking, “This has to end soon.” Spoiler: It doesn’t.
Part 3: Seers’ Village to Ardougne
In Seers’ Village, talk to the weatherman at the observatory. He’ll give you a weather report if you fix his broken weather vane. Grab a hammer and bronze bar, climb the ladder, and repair it. Take the fixed vane to Phantuwti Fanstuwi Farsight (what a name!) in the house south of the bank. He needs you to free a guy stuck in a cave.
Teleport to Ardougne, head to the clocktower, and enter the cave. You’ll need 36 Agility to climb over rocks. Free the guy (Petra) by chiseling her out. Return to Phantuwti, who now wants a potion from Hammerspike in the Dwarven Mine.
Part 4: Dwarven Mine to Taverley
Head to the Dwarven Mine (north of Falador). Find Hammerspike in the northwest corner. He’ll make the potion if you get a favor from Sanfew in Taverley. Trek to Taverley, talk to Sanfew in the Herblore shop, and he’ll ask for a favor from Tassie Slipcast in the Barbarian Village.
Why does everyone need a favor? It’s like Gielinor’s worst networking event.
Part 5: Barbarian Village to Catherby
In Barbarian Village, find Tassie in the pottery shop. She needs her furnace fixed, which requires 30 Smithing, soft clay, and an iron bar. Fix it, then head back to Sanfew. He sends you to Cromperty in Ardougne for another potion ingredient. Teleport to Ardougne, find Cromperty northeast of the market, and he’ll ask you to get a steel bar from Rimmington.
Run to Rimmington, talk to the chemist, and grab the steel bar. Return to Cromperty, who finally gives you the ingredient. Backtrack through the chain: Sanfew, Hammerspike, Phantuwti, the weatherman, Wyson, Brian, Shanks, the forester, and finally Yanni.
My first time, I lost track of who needed what. Keep notes if you’re forgetful like me!
Tips to Save Your Sanity
This quest can test your patience, but here’s how I stay zen:
Use Teleports Wisely
Teleport runes are your best friend. I burned through a stack of Varrock and Ardougne teleports to cut travel time. If you’re low on runes, grab a staff for infinite casts.
Stock Up on Energy Potions
Running across Gielinor is exhausting. I chugged energy potions like water to keep my stamina up. Stock at least four.
Take Breaks
Halfway through my first run, I was ready to rage-quit. Step away if you’re frustrated it’s just a game! What’s your go-to way to chill during a grind? For me, it’s fishing in Lumbridge.
Final Thoughts
One Small Favour is a rollercoaster of errands, but as an OSRS vet, I can tell you it’s a rite of passage. The first time I finished it, I felt like I’d conquered a marathon. Those XP lamps and the steel key ring made it all worthwhile, and the story’s quirky humor kept me chuckling. Ever laughed at an NPC’s cheeky request? This quest is full of them.
With this guide, you’ll knock it out faster than I did my first time. Got questions about the quest or need help with another OSRS grind? Drop a comment, and I’ll share my tips. Happy questing, and may your favors be truly small!
