Magic tree (Farming)
Magic Tree
Magic trees are a type of tree that can be found in the world of Gielinor in Old School RuneScape (OSRS). They are one of the highest-level trees that can be grown through the Farming skill, requiring level 75 Farming to plant.
Location
Magic trees can be found in various locations around Gielinor, including:
- Woodland area south of the Tree Gnome Stronghold: Near the spot where players can chop the trees, there are often Giant Tree Guardians.
- Feldip Hills: Situated in one of the more remote areas, these trees can provide a peaceful environment for players to farm.
- Troll Stronghold: Located to the northwest, where they can be chopped either by players or trolls.
- Regular locations: Near the Farming Guild and other various spots around Gielinor.
Requirements
To plant and grow a magic tree, players need:
- A Farming level of 75.
- A magic tree seed, which can be obtained as a rare drop from specific monsters like the green dragon, or purchased from players or shops.
- A gardening trowel to plant the tree seed.
Planting and Growing
After obtaining the necessary items, players can plant the magic tree seed in a tree patch:
- Locate a tree patch where magic trees can be planted. Some tree patches can be found in:
- The Farming Guild
- The tree patch northwest of the Tree Gnome Stronghold
- Use the seed on the patch and watch your magic tree grow. The growth stages are:
- Seedling: The initial stage, which lasts approximately 16 minutes.
- Young tree: This stage lasts for about 6 hours.
- Middle-aged tree: Growing for roughly 13 hours.
- Full-grown tree: This stage is when the tree can be chopped down for logs, lasting approximately 16 hours.
Harvesting
Once fully grown, players can chop down the magic tree to receive:
- Magic logs (yielding 250 to 350 experience per log), useful for crafting various items such as magic longbows and magic shortbows.
- Magic roots (a rare drop), which can be used for Herblore or sold for profit.
- Experience in the Woodcutting skill, typically around 100 experience per log.
Benefits of Planting Magic Trees
Planting and harvesting magic trees offers several benefits:
- The logs are valuable for training Firemaking and Fletching skills.
- Magic trees provide consistent income due to their high value in the market.
- They help players reach Farming milestones and unlock other farming-related activities.
Diseases and Pests
Magic trees can be affected by diseases, which may stop their growth or lead to death if not treated:
- Paying a Farmer: You can pay a farmer near the patch to protect your tree from diseases.
- Using Plant Cure: Players can use plant cures to successfully treat a diseased tree.
Conclusion
Magic trees are a vital part of the Farming skill in OSRS, rewarding players with experience and valuable logs. Properly caring for these trees and choosing the right locations can help maximize farming efficiency and profitability.
