Rock (pickaxe)

Rock (pickaxe)

The Rock is a basic resource used primarily in the gathering of ores. It is commonly found throughout the world of Gielinor, especially in various mines and rocky areas. When you interact with a Rock using a pickaxe, you can mine it to obtain ores such as Copper, Tin, Iron, Mithril, Adamantite, and Rune, depending on the type of rock and your Mining level.

To mine a rock, ensure that you have a suitable pickaxe equipped. The type of pickaxe you use will affect your mining efficiency, as higher-tier pickaxes yield quicker mining times and more successful attempts. A bronze pickaxe is the weakest, while a dragon pickaxe is the strongest available for players.

When you mine a rock, there is a chance of gaining experience points in the Mining skill. The amount of experience earned varies with the type of ore mined, with higher-quality ores yielding more experience. Additionally, some rocks may deplete, signified by the message that “You can’t mine this rock anymore,” at which point you must find a different rock to continue mining.

Rocks are often surrounded by NPCs or other players engaging in the Mining activity, creating a lively atmosphere. Players may also utilize mining spots to train their crafting skills by processing ores into bars at nearby furnaces.

In certain areas, you might encounter special rocks that contain unique ores or resources. For instance, the rare rocks found in the Living Rock Caverns contain valuable Living Minerals, which can be used for various purposes, including crafting items that enhance combat skills.

Mining rocks can also be enhanced through the use of various equipment and items such as the Prospector kit, which provides a Mining experience boost when worn, or the use of a dragon pickaxe special attack, which temporarily increases mining speed.

Overall, rocks are a fundamental component of OSRS’s resource gathering system, providing players with essential materials necessary for crafting, smithing, and leveling up their Mining skill efficiently.
