Logs (bronze axe)
The ‘Logs’ scenery is an essential part of the Old School RuneScape (OSRS) world, particularly for players engaged in the Woodcutting skill. When a player uses a bronze axe, they can chop down a variety of trees to gather logs, which are a fundamental resource for crafting items, building, and training Firemaking.
The bronze axe is the most basic axe available in OSRS, requiring level 1 Woodcutting to wield. Despite its low tier, it allows players to interact with logs efficiently. There are several types of trees in the game that players can chop down for logs:
- Normal Trees: These can be found in most starting areas, like Lumbridge and Varrock. They provide normal logs, which can be used for basic Firemaking and Fletching.
- Willow Trees: Found near water bodies such as the Draynor Village or at the Lumbridge Swamp, willow trees yield willow logs, which are highly sought after for training Firemaking and Fletching due to their relatively fast burning time and high experience rates.
- Maple Trees: Located in areas such as Radimus’s Camp, maples provide maple logs which have increased experience value and are requested for various quests and crafting processes.
- Yew Trees: These trees are commonly found in areas like the Varrock Palace and Edgeville. Yew trees produce yew logs which are valuable for higher-level Fletching and Firemaking training.
- Magic Trees: Requiring level 75 Woodcutting, magic trees are located in more advanced areas like the Woodlands southeast of the Mage Training Arena. They yield magic logs, the highest tier for woodcutting, valued for their crafting potential and high-level Fletching requirements.
To gather logs using a bronze axe, players must first equip the axe and approach a tree. They can then right-click on the tree and select the ‘Chop down’ option. The cutting animation will begin, and the player will receive logs after a short duration, depending on the tree type and the player’s Woodcutting level. The chance of receiving logs increases with higher Woodcutting levels and better axes, but the bronze axe remains a viable tool for beginners.
As logs are gathered, players will notice different visual cues and sounds associated with each chopping action. The serene ambiance of nature, combined with the rhythmic sound of the axe hitting the tree, adds to the immersive experience of gathering resources in OSRS.
Logs play an essential role in the economy of Old School RuneScape, as they can be traded with other players or used in various skills such as Firemaking, where they can be burned to create fire, or Fletching, where they can be crafted into bows and arrows. Each type of log has its own unique properties and uses, making them a versatile resource in the world of Gielinor.
