Flax (plant)

Flax is a type of plant that can be found in the world of Gielinor, specifically in the Farming skill of Old School RuneScape (OSRS). It is typically grown for its high value in crafting and production, mainly to create bowstrings. Flax can be found in several locations, but one of the most notable places is the flax field located north of the Seers’ Village.

The Flax plant is identifiable by its tall, slender stems and small blue flowers that bloom on the top. When fully grown, a flax plant will be ready for harvesting, which can be determined by its vibrant color. Players with level 10 Farming can grow flax by obtaining seeds and planting them in an empty patch of farmland, where they will take about 280 minutes (or approximately 4 hours and 40 minutes) to grow before becoming harvestable.

Once players have harvested the flax, they can use it to spin into bowstrings at the spinning wheel found in the nearby Seers’ Village. This process requires 10 Crafting to use the spinning wheel and yields one bowstring per flax, making it a popular method for players looking to train their Crafting skill or make bows for combat purposes.

Additionally, flax can be obtained from various sources as well, including monsters like giant spiders or through trading and high alchemy. Players often engage in this resource gathering due to the relatively low investment in time and the potential profit when turning flax into bowstrings.

In summary, flax plays a crucial role for players interested in both Farming and Crafting, offering a blend of aesthetics in its flowering beauty and practical resources in its eventual transformation into valuable items, making it an essential plant for adventurers in the realm of Gielinor.
